Not in TEXAS. Hang-um offense
Just curious—if Marcos were to offer his home inspection services to other agents in his real estate agency, would that too constitute a conflict of interest and be in violation of the code of ethics? I question the ethics of having several professions connected within one house so-to-speak.
No conflict. You can be realtor, inspector or contractor but you can not be an inspector and contractor on the same transaction.
Depends on who you represent, are you doing it for the seller as a pre listing inspection , or are you doing it for the buyer, if you are acting as a dual agent I would stay clear. Check the laws in your state or ask your BIC. Did you know the National Association of Realtors allows Realtors to accept “referral fees” from vendors if they refer their services, but must disclose the fact to their client. As you may also know it is against policy and many state laws for inspectors to pay a referral fee, go figure…
I just became a Home Inspector and have also considered obtaining my realtors license.
If everything is done totally separate and you are not inspecting any homes that pass through the brokerage are you finding that you run into any disputes or complications with realtors/inspectors/home buyers?
My worry is that I may loose referrals from other realtors.
I’m seriously considering the option as a supplemental income as well as for personal benefits as we buy a few homes each year.
I would like to hear your thoughts as well as others on here.

Paul, talk to your a attorney and accountant for the best information.
Let your “significant other” become a Realtor. You need to stay as ‘squeeky clean’ as possible!!
