Illuminei Scam/Not

Just got a call from a guy (caller ID said Illuminei) asking if i could do a roof, attic, and electrical inspection. They do solar. He was asking for pricing and i told him i would need sqft/address to give him a quote. Sounds super legit, but there has been so much scamming going on and ive never heard of the company so i was wondering if any of you had done any work for them? They said they do work all over the US. Thanks in advance!!!

Website looks legit.

No, I have not, but if/when interested, I always go to their (Google) website and call the Phone number listed there.
You should be able to evaluate if they are legit or not from there.
Remember, many scammers use websites from a Google search and spoofed phone numbers for caller ID info, thus the reason for you to call a number they didn’t provide to you!
Nothing is guaranteed, but you can lessen the risks with some basic due diligence.

Thank you, i did the same. Im pretty sure its legit. Thank you all.

Thank you, i did research them and seems legit. I appreciate you all.

Kind of interesting. I wonder if they want these three items inspected to help in their estimating or if they are looking to limit their responsibility for these areas.

I wondered about the same thing as Jeff Spencer. I would think that if they are going to install solar on a roof they’d want to do their own investigation of whether the structure is adequate. Solar stuff isn’t that heavy so maybe they just want a visual inspection like we do just to know about any obvious problems?
I’d ask what info they need and what is the end use? Our scope is only to determine whether those systems meet the requirements for the home as it was built. Not for anything additional.
Seems like this is like a contractor going to build a second story and asking an inspector to inspect the foundation to see if it’d support the new construction.
I’d probably step pretty carefully on this so as not to assume any new liability brought on by a modification to the home.

I would agree with Mike. You might also check with your insurance company.

I want to thank you all for you’re input. They are legit. It is only a visual inspection so they know pitch of roof, what size electrical service, exterior pics of home and roof. They use this to build their system and provide a solid quote. Company is out of texas and have a few locations around the country. So, hope this helps someone down the road as they do these all over the us. Appreciate you all and as allways you all ROCK:bangbang::pray:

Not sure why it put bangbang. Lol

Out of curiosity, what were they offering to pay?

It was a bid job. They didnt have a set price. So it just depends how big the home is for myself. This home was 1,025 sqft and im doing it for $300. Only 3 min from my office. Great deal for myself.
