Insulation in garage, above interior window

In the pics there is a garage with full floor above- the insulation is mounted with kraft facing towards the living warm side- seems fine. But is reversed on the sides, as mentioned the space above is a full second floor. The garage would not be heated, why would kraft side be facing garage?

Also- insulation above windows/doors in a room- why would these areas above the doors be reversed- kraft toward exterior-

Thoughts?

Thanks

Good question- this is a new construction house I was checking out- contractors working- didn’t want to do too much pulling insulation. 2 - 2x8’s as a header would allow 2.5" of space- my guess they just filled that space with a layer of fiberglass- Ill have to go back and confirm.

Here are other pics of the garage insulation - other part of question

Thanks

I would say on the ceiling that all of that is facing the wrong way with the vapor barrier needing to go to the heated/conditioned side per MFG instructions, and probably labeled on the insulation.

It is going the wrong way simply because that was the easiest way to staple the batts, or rather to hold them in place…Yes it is wrong but hardly ever do people read the “directions printed continually along each and every batt” along with the fire warning that is also ignored. Let’s face it if it were not for stupid people, we would be out of a job.

Is there living space above the entire garage or just the area with the open face?

Yes, full floor above garage- knee wall on each side- only about 4’ on each side- don’t know why faced side would ever be placed facing unheatef space
