I’ve been looking into getting into inspecting here in upstate NY. i just took the test and got an 85, and have been in electrical construction for 13 years, any ideas on where to start as far as licensing requirements, certifications,etc? thank you

There are currently no licensing requirements for inspecting in NY State. Certified termite inspections require a DEC license. Go to www.pestmanagementtraining.com for Barry Stangel’s course. I believe he may offer a discount for NACHI members, as he is also a member.


You should also consider getting a Radon cert. Look into RTCA in Elmsford, NY for their training package. It's very good.

has the state bill passed here requiring licensing? i see in the state forum a bill posted talking about it, also mentioning insurance. I’d like to have all i need before jumping into this?!? thanks

Good place to check for radon certs is www.NEHA.com when you get there look for National Radon Proficiency Program.I have my cert there they will give you a list of places for training.
