Intermittent Chirping Light Fixtures

I found two fan/light fixtures (different brands) in my afternoon inspection today…both were ‘chirping’ like a loud cricket when turned on. I’m assuming it was the bulbs. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Did you shut the light kit off to see if the noise went away?

I’d guess cheap and poorly made LED bulbs anyway.

What was “on”? Fan and light, fan only. light only? Does the noise change with the speed of the fan? Is there a dimmer on the light? You haven’t given us much to work with.

Sorry, light only. Fans were off. No dimmers. The noise went away when the lights were off. Both lights were 3 way wired. I’m still leaning towards the bulbs, but don’t know if anyone knew of something specific. Thanks

Were they ‘off’ or just ‘not spinning’?
If they had power to them, and not spinning, that changes everything!
Did you operate the fan(s) with the switch? Were they ‘fully functional’?
Rule #1… Never assume anything!
I don’t recall having any ‘chirping’, but I often get ‘Humming or Buzzing’.
Seems to me ‘Chirping’ isn’t very far off from there.

Brand & Types of lights please.

Really?
No wonder it takes you 6+ hours to perform an inspection!!

My WAG would be the bulbs.

led bulbs making a chirping noise - Google Search

LED bulbs chirping or buzzing is often caused by incompatible dimmer switches or electromagnetic interference from other devices. It’s usually not dangerous, but can be annoying. Replacing the bulb with a dimmable LED, upgrading to a digital dimmer, or isolating the dimmer and LED wiring can help resolve the issue.

The fans were in the off position at the wall switch (one was remote operated - however remote was missing). The other fan was not reachable (cord was 10ft. off the ground on a vaulted ceiling - wall switch was off) One was a Hunter brand and the other was an off brand that I’ve never heard of.

Thanks for the feedback - I’ll assume it was the bulbs and move on

I would report just what you found.
“When the lights on the fan were turned on they made a “churpping” sound. I was not able to discover what the source or cause was. You might try changing the bulbs out to see of that stops the sound.”

It is probably chinese surveillance devices planted in the chinese bulbs!

Actually it was crickets that made their way into the fixtures and were getting their cricket testicles (if they have them) fried!

Over all, houses 8 to 10 hours end to end. Condos 3.5 to 4 hours.
Ranked #1 in Montreal.

Fluorescent and incandescent light bulbs are most known for buzzing, while some LED bulbs can also make noise under certain conditions.
