All I can say kevin is start digging and you will be surprised …really surprised what they are up to daily. They can provide all the dirt that has been thrown around here as proof, just because of a very few people who continually bash everything. We cannot do the same as their MB is closed to us and the MCS.
oahi had a call in conference last evening and they will very much continue to lobby to be rolled in to the DAA and/or take over. Most of the members in attendance believe it is already a regulating body and it is the only logical choice.
It is regrettable about all the negative comments on this MB by some who either have their own agenda or are just happier being critical or vindictive.
I will say it again with enforcement. They will not take over.
They will be humbled to there knees.
Just the fact that they are hidding does not bod well for them.
Going twice…
That is the worst proposal I have ever seen. Good to see they have not a clue how to even get that correct.
Nick would laugh up the wazoo if he looked at this.
Sorry! I am not even close to qualified and can see the errors in this proposal right away.
Shhh Kevin not nice there is also an OAHI Director who is a NACHI member your post just might help them do a better presentation .
Why wouldn’t OAHI lobby, they have a duty to do so. Just as InterNACHI is free to do so also.
If the MCS findings are instituted the regulatory function and make up will equal the playing field and that is the best solution because that body will not be made up of one association and will have outside oversite.
Right from the start the make up the panel went unchallenged. You had the VP of P2P on the panel who is also a member of the discipline committee of OAHI , a director from Nova Scotia who should not have been on the panel because he obviously does not reside in Ontario and represented CAHPI, a VP from Carson Dunlop and member of OAHI, and the committee chair from Oahi Admissions review committee.
No one raised a stink, you were all mom. Now all of a sudden you are worried. Give me a break!
Talk about complaining!
OAHI is in no position to be dictating anything. They are currently trying to figure out a way to have 12 former members running around using the RHI designation, and the OAHI logo who refuse to cease and desist. OAHI can’t take them all to court per breach of Pr 158 because OAHI simply does not have the funds. They were recently sued for wrongful dismissal by the former Registrar. Bill Mullen and Harry Janssen are no longer members and continuing to purposely breach Pr 158 by using the Oahi logo and RHI on their websites.
The treasure Kirk Iredale and Alrek Meipoom where tossed out for financial mismanagement. They too are still making reference to RHI and the logo even though they are not members.
There are approximately 8 others in breach of Pr 158.
OAHI as a quasi public authority could be sued because if these ex members continue to misuse the logo/designation and a client hires them thinking they are members and something goes awry then OAHI could be sued for not taking action to alert the public.
All this is verifiable because I went and saw the Registry and they are not in the Registry.

So what makes you think OAHI has any rights to anything?
I don’t know anything about any of that stuff. I judge trade associations by their membership benefits page. I’ve never been to their website until tonight. You have to scroll down to the last section of the bottom of this page: http://www.oahi.com/english/membership/membership-information.html to find their member benefits section. It’s essentially buried, and you can see why: It consists of only five member benefits, four of which are fluff and the last one is just discounts. I’m not going as far as accusing them of running a scam, but that just isn’t right.
If an association charges dues, it is simply obligated to provide no-extra-cost benefits in return. See: www.nachi.org/benefits.htm
This is what gets my blood boiling Nick.

Defect Recognition & Reporting Course: Registration
Course Fee $750.00
Why does this upset you it is a free country and they have sold this course for years . When I took it in about 2001 the cost was about $250;00
Because look what InterNachi offers for the same price Roy and is available via website. Ok you are nicely nested in the area of Toronto. I might add the biggest area of concentrated of OAHI members. Why is that? Because they can rob you blind for education and all Home Inspectors will suck it up. Now if OAHI could offer what InterNachi has for even $1000.00 I would have been in with them already.
That’s the way free market operates we have homies who charge $450;00 or more for an inspection and we have homies who charge ~$199;00 for the same home .
One gas station charges $139.9 for gas and another charges ~$119.9 for the same gas.
I got smart and joined NACHI in 2003 .
Got to go but before I head out.
Maybe they aren’t non-profit.
Some of the directors sure made a lot of money teaching courses .
The president said he made more money teaching then doing home Inspections.
This went on for years the chosen few taught many courses .
Looks to me like it is still happening.
This means regulations only Len.
It would be a dream come true.
agreed, there has to be a set clause for Granfathering.
It will stop the needless money for nothing.
Not with grandfathering homies.
Roy, you will never stop money for education.
I had a student I am helping tell me he enrolled in CD inspection course last year.
Long distance training and you are mailed books.
It is still $4,000 dollars.
He them asked the Quebec association, AIBQ what there requirements are, They push the new aspiring homies to the CD course and tell them at the end they should join an association.
To bad.
So sad.
Man, when will this crap stop?
Carson Dunlop came out with there teaching system when there was nothing else around.
They have been a huge help to the industry since the last Century .
Expensive yes at least they do give much knowledge to those who do their course .
There are many others out there who should not be teaching or supplying courses.
NACHI is great and gives us much help and information for free .
unfortunately many do not know of NACHI soon enough or have been told incorrect information by others…
Just take a look at how many will be taking the Carson Dunlop courses in Toronto in March.
Carson Dunlop is a very honorable company.
Yes NACHI will be there with their booth.
