Can anyone tell me if this is a termite or bug bait trap. Has small plug in center and latches to open green lid. Also kind of a screen like deal inside.

Hi,
Most of the termite “traps” I have seen are a stake of untreated wood stuck in the ground. The termite inspection firm comes out once in a while and pulls the stake to see if it is being eaten. I would suspect that that is a trap for bugs or small rodents. Termites are not attracted to plastic, so they would not go inside to be trapped.

Chuck,
If that?s termite bait, it's new to me. I?ve seen a lot of termite baits, but I have never seen one similar to the one you are asking about.
Termite baits come in a variety of shapes and sizes. The majority of them are round and contain a smaller ?locked? center area which is used for penetrating wood spikes into the soil. Exterminators will pull these wooden spikes out periodically to inspect for termite activity.
Your green contraption appears to have a different purpose.

I haven’t seen any termite baits since my training days in Florida. After what you guys have said, I searched more on the internet and found that this indeed is not a termite bait but likely for ants. thanks for everything,
