“My essay” Ladder safety is a major safety that is overlooked. United States is number one in injuries from ladder falls in the world. There is over 163,000 emergency visits and 300 deaths. Most of these falls come from 10 feet or less.

“my essay” Ladder inspection before use is something that should be done before every use. Some items on a ladder are in working order but could use an upgrade or newer parts, such as the feet on this extension ladder. You do not have to always have to buy a new ladder , you can order the feet by simple ordering the parts from the manufacturer.

This is an 18 foot extension ladder that is currently NOT safe for use. It has been left out in the weather, unprotected for some time. This ladder would need to be cleaned of all debris and inspected for safe operations prior to being placed in service.

This is an UNSAFE practice and should NEVER happen. In review, one should never reach, stretch, or extend past the rails of the ladder. Leaning to one side or the other can cause the ladder to slip, and the user of said ladder to fall.

I have chosen to upload and write about how a step ladder works. You want to check to make sure all 4 feet are in contact with the ground. Ensure that all locking devices are engaged if available. You want to make sure you position the ladder facing where you will be working and carry only light tools and materials up with you. Try to avoid standing and performing work on the top two to three steps if possible. Always maintain three points of contact; both feet and one hand.

After reading about what never to do with ladders, I learned about the maximum load rating. This should be found visible on a label on the actual ladder. There are Type III, II, I, IA and IB. these correspond to the maximum load capacities ay where from 220 to 350 pounds. All inspectors and even homeowners should know the duty ratings of ladders that they are using.

This is a picture of how a step ladder should not be used. Step ladders should be self-supported when they are climbed. They need to be inspected to confirm the equipment is in acceptable working condition and should always be used in accordance with the manufacturers instructions.

The presence and utilization of tie downs is a major safety precaution that was taken in keeping the operator of the ladder safe from the ladder falling over or sliding when being used.

For this writing assignment i chose to inspect an image of ladders being used improperly. In this image a man is sitting on a ladder while another man is using the very ung of a ladder. These are both practices that are unsafe. Since most injuries evolving ladders are from a height of 10 feet or less, it is not safe practice to do either of these, even on a short ladder.

WHATS WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE? THE STEP LADDER IS NOT THE PROPER LADDER FOR THIS SITUATION. THE LADDER HAS NO WAY TO BE SECURED AND WILL MOST LIKELY TIP OVER RESULTING IN WORKER FALLING. THE WORKER IS BEYOND THE PROPER STEP HEIGHT FOR THIS SITUATION. IF THE WORKER DOES MANAGE TO GET TO THE ROOF WITHOUT BEING INJURED, HOW WILL HE POSSIBLY GET BACK DOWN WITHOUT FALLING?

PEOPLE CUT CORNERS, DON'T PAY ATTENTION, AND SKIP SAFETY STEPS WHEN IN A HURRY TO GET THE JOB DONE AND MOVE ON TO THE NEXT. ITS IMPORTANT TO TAKE A FEW MINUTES, THINK THROUGH THE TASK AT HAND AND REMEMBER IMPORTANT STEPS. THIS JUST MIGHT SAVE A LIFE OR PREVENT AN INJURY.
