Is there anything of concern with laundry chutes in regards to fire?
First time I have come across one.

If they are contained within a dwelling it’s OK. Ontario Building Code 9.10.1.3.[7]
In Commercial buildings they have to be Fire Rated but I’m sure that you are talking about a residential house.
I am very concerned on these as a saftey hazzard .
You can be sure if there is one one and little people they will go down .
I have heard to many stories so I always write them up hard .
Example a 2 year old going down head first and a fifteen getting stuck trying to play silly bugger.

The two year old I can understand but the 15 year old maybe should have landed on his head it would have knocked some sense into him.
You say you write them hard Roy but to me it’s called childproofing and I tend to stay away from advising clients about childproofing. It tends to put parents on the defensive, friction ensues and well you know rest.
You really haven’t lived until you have been down a laundry chute Mario.
I rarely see them, and right up each one I do.
To me its a saftey hazzard .
I care less if they do nothing .
I just want it in my report that covers my A$$.
Have found two this year and three last.
I think it how you present it .
I just say you know these Laundry chutes are so attractive to little people .
(I bet it is nicer where you where then where you are Should have stayed.)
