Level 2 Inspections

Does anybody offer level 2 chimney/flue inspections? I know this is separate training and scope than a home inspection. Just curious if it’s worth learning and easy to add on. We have tons of chimneys here as most older areas do.

Where are you located?

I never offered them because I stayed so busy that I didn’t have time for that add-on. But, there was only one certified chimney professional to do them around here and he was kept busy sweeping, installing and inspecting from level IIs on.

Here are certification classes:

You really need to be a Chimney Sweep to perform a proper level II, that means you would have to carry all the necessary tools as well.

I always recommend a Level II and put a link like Larry mentioned above, in my reports pointing to Chimney Inspections - CHIMNEY SAFETY INSTITUTE OF AMERICA (CSIA) that explains what a level II is and also to CHIMNEY SAFETY INSTITUTE OF AMERICA (CSIA) - Home so they can do their own search.

I’m in WV. I wish I was busier. Top ranked inspector in my city on google with 120 five star reviews and only do about 170 a year. This is my 4th year in business. I’m dead bored.

Maybe it could be good side hustle for you.

And, like Kevin said:
