Well now that’s a more reasonable offer and reason for a lower split to the Inspector of an inspection fee! Keep going that way and you’ll put a lot of people on your team. Good for you!!

Now I do have to ask a question as I have checked out your site and this is not a dig but a real curiosity. You offer paranormal inspections and approach them in a very sound way. However having lived in many old houses we have experienced some real weird and unexplainable stuff! Even had pictures with fairly well defined ghostly figures in positions that could not have been created by reflections, distortions of visible images in the picture, etc. So my question is have you ever actually been in a house where you could not explain the phenomena?

You should start another thread, or series of threads with your paranormal inspection activities. If you do start then start it in the public section for some good advertising.

Thanks, we’re looking for people to grow with us and keep people long term, not for reasons to lower anyone’s splits of the inspection fees. A good inspector is worth every bit of the investment in them and deserves fair wages that reflect the level of work and experience that goes into this. I see far too many home inspection job listings offering so little in exchange for so much.

And the beauty of it is, we still pay higher pay splits than most companies (Starting at 60%).

Well, it started as a Halloween marketing idea, but people seemed to like it, so I left the page up for traction that time of year (when business would normally slow). Most of the time, what people think is “ghostly” is the result of something completely explainable. My job, then, is to explain to them where their creaky sounds or strange drafts are coming from.

So my question is have you ever actually been in a house where you could not explain the phenomena?

No, but I’m largely a sceptic with a very scientific approach to these things, nor do I honestly expect to ever find anything truly paranormal. If I ever do encounter such a situation, I would definitely be on here seeing if there is something I may have missed. It is really more of a peace of mind inspection, designed to alleviate people’s old home concerns. In almost every case, I believe there is a logical, structural, mechanical, or environmental cause. Mostly, it is an ordinary inspection, with a little extra investigation.

But the bottom line is that while I have seen spooky areas in old homes, I’ve never experienced anything that led me to believe that a home I was inspecting was inhabited by anything otherworldly.

That said, I have found some interesting things in an old supposedly “haunted” hotel (in Iowa). Things like EMF readings in areas with no immediately discernible cause. The owner of the hotel confirmed that there was no electricity running through the areas, which I presumed there would be. So that was interesting. And it was in an area where she later told me she regularly experienced “activity” (sliding ballroom doors slamming shut).

We also got some interesting SLS images on the fifth floor of that hotel, which is another area where guests regularly experience unusual occurrences. Although I couldn’t find any immediate cause for the SLS “detections” (in almost all cases, these alerts are explainable by objects or shadows in the room, but this was an empty hallway), I couldn’t get any other unusual readings (EMF, EVP Recordings, Temperature Changes, Motion Detection, Full Spectrum, or Thermal Imagry, etc.) in the area to confirm, so I chalk it up to dim lighting and inconsistent paint. It was an interesting trip, though, that’s for sure. At this hotel, however, I was not there to conduct a full inspection of the property, so I can’t say for sure that there aren’t other ordinary causes for these happenings. I was just having a bit of fun.

Keep going and GROW that company!!

Leave the page up as it is a cool approach to the subject. Keep doing it as there are those out there that need reassurance. Of course I’m sure with your looks you get lots of old lady calls? Hmm sounds like Sugar Momma territory! Can you handle it??

That’s funny you mentioned doing a hotel. First thing I thought of was the movie “1408” with Samuel L. Jackson and John Cusack 1408 (2007) - IMDb . I’ve been a horror movie fan since before kindergarten. Maybe that’s why I see things that are not there or others don’t see??
