Lightning rods on a mobile home roof

Should a lightning rods system on a mobile home roof be attached to a metal smokestack and the aluminum Lomancos.

Why do you feel they are needed at all?

I think they are pointless but is this a dangerous install?

What exactly is “THIS”?

And where are you located?

Can you the above photos?

I see an asphalt shingled roof with box ventilation and a vent for something.

What exactly is “THIS”?

And as I’ve asked you in all three threads you started and never came back to with answers… where are you located?
YES, it matters!

Florida….sorry

The lightning rod system is mechanically attached to the metal smokestack and what appears to be all the aluminum white lomancos on the left hand side

Lomancos are a Brand name. Assuming you are referring to the roof ventilation boxes… are they powered or static?

Have you read through their website yet to determine how the Manufacturer requires them to be installed?

Does Florida have any electrical requirements for Lightning Arrest systems or Grounding/Bonding systems for Metal Sided structures?

If the rods are properly grounded then it is a good thing. Lighting rods don’t attract lighting. If hit they will dissipated most of the shock to the ground. It’s like bring the earth at the same level as the rods. That way the are not as subject as to being struck since they appear to be at ground level…

Thank you for the response

So, how are you going to use that ‘sorta answer’ in your report?

None that I have ever seen, I’ve read the Lomanco Florida DBPR Product Approval more than once.

Just think of pool cages. All metal structures and reinforcing metal in concrete slabs are require to be properly grounded.
Sometimes depending of the structure and the soil a ground rod array maybe required.
IMHO here in Florida you can’t have too many properly grounded electrodes.

The tallest object on the roof is the most likely object to be struck by lightning so if you’re going to install a lightning protection system you would place an air terminal on the highest object.

I think the bigger concern would be the installation instructions for the lighting rods.

This general guide I found with a quick webernet search may be helpful but knowing the specific manufacturer of that system and their instructions would be the ultimate resource.
