Lots of steel, lots of rust...

I inspected an home yeaterday that was built in th 30’s. It has a poured foundation, steel columns, a steel beam, steel joists. All of it is supporting a lightweight concrete floor with steel mesh under it. The issue is that all of it is rusted and in many areas, rusted steel mesh expanded into the comcrete floor, crumbling it. Do I recommend replacing rusted mesh and deteriorated joists, and patch up the floor where it’s crumbled or I suggest replacing the whole floor? What do you think? Take a look at the pictures.

I am not positive, but that looks like an early metal lathe drapped over beam supports to carry the wet concrete.

I seen something similar to this when I was a kid, but was more of a black paper laminated with chicken wire.

This was used prior of composite decks, plywood and metal form deck systems that are currently being used.

If that is what it is, the rust does no harm becase that lathe has no further pupose.

I agree Marcel. That’s what I see as well.
