Memberlist grew by over 300 members for the month of January. We are averaging approx. 100 new every 10 days. Not all have become members yet. I believe we had about 215 new members for the month from that list.
Lets get the recruitment/membership committee rolling.

Hi Dave,
Are you sure that we need a membership recruiting committee, heck I am no longer able to keep up with all of the new names and faces on the board.

I think we need to turn the people who sign up for the board into actual members. I see lots of new names but not a lot of posters.
Lets try to get the association over 4000 by the end of the year.
I believe we are somewhere near 1850. The membership fee could help with buying those mousepads and other material to help promote individual inspectors and NACHI. Lets make it the biggest and best or at least the best.

I wonder if there is a way to track members to see who is new to the business, who has been in business 5 years or less, who has been in business 5 years or more, who is also a member of other national associations, who was a member of other national associations, etc.

More than just knowing how membership is growing, NACHI needs to know how they compare to other national associations.
Gaining on them (what is NACHI doing right? what are they doing wrong?), losing on them (what is NACHI doing wrong? what are they doing right?), stay about even (what can NACHI do better?)?
I'm not a statics guy, but for those who are, that information would be very helpful.

Statistics,
I loved Statistics in college. I use them for everything. But Jerry is right we do need a way of tracking these sort of things. If Chris or Nick could find a way to get info like that to me, I would be more then happy to statiscally anazlyze them and put it all together.

While recruitment may not be an issue right now, RETENTION is. A recruitment/retention committee would be a good idea. Often times when organizations grow quickly, some members feel left behind because the organization is trying to play catch up and ens up losing people. What difference does it make if 1000 people join in a year if more than half either leave or don't participate? Focus not only on getting new members, but keeping them too.

Regarding Retention
I would like to find out the first 91 people that signed up for NACHI, membership would have ended Jan 31, how many have re-upped
their membership. Does anyone know how we can find this out.

Retention is actually the statistic that counts. It is the closest thing we have to a “no confidence” vote in my position as Exec. Dir.
Aside from members who leave the inspection business altogether, I know of only 5 members in the history of NACHI that joined, then quit. Of those 5, 3 of them returned.
I can name all 5 but won't. 3 of the 5 quit on this board. 1 of those 3 returned on this board.
With regards to retention, there is little room for improvement.

That is kind of where I was going with my question.
Have renewals gone out to re-up. Does your membership go from the anniversary date or is it a yearly thing where everyone gets renewals at the same time.
I also would like to say that findaninspector.us gave me two inspections this week. Cool

David,
That is pretty kewl your membership already paid for itself with those two inspections and you have a little left over to make momma happy.
Dues if I am not mistaken are sent out close to the anniversary date that you joined, so if you joined in February, you should have already gotten the due notice.

Momma always wants a little more. Found out a couple of weeks ago another to be added to the family.
When did you receive your renewal info. I see that you joined in oct 02
I have only been a member of Nachi for a little of 2 months.
The gentleman that gave me the last inspection was very impressed with the Nachi site also.
