i’ve seen this alot and always write it up. Now i know that “they” make a facia trim kit for metal roofs, and i know they are a little pricey, but don’t you think that if your going to spend all that money on a metal roof that you’d finish it? does this effect the warenty or cause any other problems??
i think it would if you have a gutter system which the client intends on doing, my comments were to the fact that if the snow/ice slides off the roof to fast, that it may cause an ice damn in the gutter and water/ice will get under the metal roof. thaughts????
i know about the little spikes, i call them snow holders, my question is about the drip edge along the facia. it should be at least wrapped with flashing, shouldn't it. i suggested it in my report. i mean the whole house was done: i.e. vinyl siding, vinyl windows, new metal roof, etc.....the facia and exposed "ledger" wood and shimms used to level the old roof just sit there and look at you. i checked other houses with the same roof and of the 8 i found, only 2 had the trim kit installed on the fasia.

Jay, sounds like there is some real urban renewal going on there.
What is there some company in your area renovating numerous homes? or are they do-it-yourself-ers.
I would definitely want it flashed before the wind peels it like a grape.

no major reno. i found the other roofs in my travel over about a 15 mile radias. just driving by i could see either old ugly facia, or nice new trim/ wrap. most of them apeared to be diy-ers, but some pro’s with not much better quality. I’ll call the manufacturer about warrenties with self installs. thanx.
