Mike Holmes put his name on a project for which he was not doing any due diligence. Now he is gonna pay for that avarice.
Lawyers are going to be the only winners here.
oh he is screwed.
The home inspector should have caught it before it got to this point.
Mike Holmes WAS the Home Inspector!
This is where what you say gets you into trouble. If you watched closely Holmes lawyers claim that no one in the development purchased a Holmes inspection, BUT Holmes very publicly endorsed the builder and implied he inspected them as part of his endorsement. This was verified by several of the residents who purchased believing that Mike Holmes stood behind the product (an implied guarantee). He cooked his own goose by running his mouth (for which he was probably paid - but it won’t be enough now!).
I KNOW. In his shows, he is always ripping on other home inspectors for missing things.
There is a saying in Spanish that comes to mind: “No todo lo que brilla es oro” [“not all that glitters is gold”].
I never really liked the arrogant tone of this fellow.
I was quite leery of his qualifications many years ago. I researched Mike and his father and found discrepancies in his bio and construction history. I presented my findings in many presentations to bank first time buyer presentations and realtor presentations. I complained to the organisers of a licencing seminar for continually referring to him. (But I did suggest they get Dr. Phil to re-organise our health care system!)
I am now 84 years old, retired as a Home Builder, then a Realtor and finally a Home Inspector with NACHI
I’d put CyFy up against Mike Holmes any day. Hell, I’d put most of you all up against Holmes.
