Wondering if anyone could tell me what brand of electrical panel this is .This is the first time I’ve seen a panel like this one & any information would be greatly appreciated!!
Pushmatic.
Bulldog Electric makes pushmatics but they usually have a sticker label on the inside.
No mystery it’s CRAP
Care to expand on why you think it it crap?
Ohhh damn I thought something didn’t look right with panel.Thank you all.So these panels are potential hazards for Fire ? And i should probably inform my client that some insurance companies won’t insure Him ? How do you guys write these up ??
Sure Jim.
Most carriers in Florida will not insure a property with them.
Thermal breaker design with no magnetic trip mechanism - obsolete.
The little on/off flag can get stuck/fixed in either position, giving a false indication of the condition of the circuit.
Over time the breakers become hard to operate (push).
**note: I look up to you on electrical stuff.
Thanks Marc,
I knew about the lack of magnetic trip and the flag issue and obsolete. Not in Florida and don’t deal with insurance company policies.
No mystery… one of the tarnished Cadillac’s of home electric panels. Innovative quality product when they were originally manufactured, but lacking a magnetic trip made them suspect. The spring mechanism trip did not stand up to the test of time either… Now considered obsolete.
Bulldog pushmatic breakers are very old. The breakers have an internal grease lubricant, and can become difficult to operate, if not used and maintained regularly. Pushmatic breakers have an indicator flag meant to show whether the circuit is on or off. This flag would sometimes stay stuck in position, giving a false indication of the circuit condition. The flag fails inside the breaker, making it difficult to know its condition. This can allow for shock/electrocution, even when working on a circuit you believe to be turned off.
Obsolete panel. May be uninsurable, may have damaged or nonfunctional breakers (won’t trip), may not have replacement breakers available, unsafe. Etc.
