This flex duct curves up in the attic and then runs down inside a closet to the basement. I expected to find an air exchanger or something in the house but there isn’t one. And there are no other ducts like this in the home. Any ideas what this is for or could have been for in past?
It looks like it comes up into the attic and goes back down. One end terminates in the basement. Where does the other end terminate?
The furnace has pvc air intake and exhaust pipes going outside. But the furnace was replaced in 2018. maybe it was make up air for the old furnace? wdyt?
Couldn’t locate the other end. my best guess is that this was for make up air for the old furnace. But just for the heck of it, where would the other end of a duct like this typically terminate?
Typically, make-up air will terminate outdoors, but in the attic is an option I have seen posted on the forum from other areas. Your situation does not appear to terminate in the attic. If you didn’t find anything on the ceiling in the room below, then it is possible it runs horizontally under the insulation over to the soffit. Just a guess.
Yeah, i think you’re right. Thanks for the help.
