NACHI Code of Ethics Violation

Nick,
As I understand, the reputation system is automatically on. Most members (Me-but I assume most others) were not aware of our ability, or the need to opt out, until this discussion.
Why not turn it off globally, for all members, and then those who want it, can turn it on.??

I forsaw problems with this system from day one. I politely requested it be junked. My suggestions are to voice your complaints to Chris M. The system is kind of neat, but serves no real purpose, IMO.

I think the original pupose was for non-members to be denied access if enough members made his/her reputation poor enough.

But Chris would be the one to talk to about it. webmaster@nachi.org

This system does not function as intened, requires professional removal before further NACHI member damage occurs.

I agree with most. The rep system is totally useless and should be omitted from this MB.

C’mon Chris, Do us all a favor.

I contacted Chris with my original post, we’ll see.

I am hopeful.

I also emailed Chris asking for its removal or an explanation as to why it is not removed.

It is not serving its intended purpose, as spam posts are moved without any negative feedback posted, and other systems are being put in place to control multiple ID posters (like the canadian fiasco). To my knowledge, no non-members have attained a negative rating resulting in removal.

It is silly at best, and divisive and damaging at worst. Shut it down.

The problem is with Google. The rating system merits, are a seperate issue.

Each member can “shut theirs down” or “remove theirs” without asking Chris to. If you want an explanation as to why a member wants it you have to ask that particular member, not Chris. Control is from each member’s message board profile.

Non-members can’t turn it off.

It shouldnt even be in existence. It is divisive and without purpose (or at best, not being used for the stated purpose.)

Trash it entirely. I have yet to see anyone in support of it.

I support it as a mandatory condition of message board use by non-members as it is the only method by which members (if there are enough of them) can prevent certain non-members from continual disruptive posting on our board. I don’t think this power should be taken away from members.

How many disruptive posts have been prevented since the rating system was initiated? I think that number would convince a lot of folks who are undecided on the value of the system, like myself.

What??? None, you say! Well, that just can’t be right can it?

How about removing the boxes from members and leave them on for the non-members if they (the non-members) are the reason for the system? That way we could leave each other alone and give bad marks if we wish to the non-members who don’t use the board for positive purposes.

What he said.

What he said.

What who said??

You.

Seems to be an echo in here. Hello…hello…hello…

Oh, dear…now I’m going to get a blue box…:frowning: :frowning:

I concur.

Why not???
