There is an article on home inspection in the new issue of This Old House magazine. Of course ASHI is mentioned several times, and the only inspectors quoted are ASHI guys, even though their names and the brand are not directly associated. The article incorrectly states that ASHI guys are “certified”. I hope that kind of misinformation isn’t part of the branding effort.
No mention of NACHI, and yet even those NIBI Masters got their name on the reference list!
But at least New Jersey gets a mention for having the toughest licensing law in the nation!

I’ll take it. It turns out that any article about home inspections helps NACHI members, even if NACHI isn’t directly mentioned. It’s called a coattail marketing effect. If ASHI members are able to get themselves on the cover of TIME magazine, I would be happy.
I'm even more overjoyed when they use the word "certified" like they did in the article you cite. You see "certified" is by far the number one thing consumers remember about anything they read about inspectors. The fact that ASHI doesn't certify their members and we do certify our members, is even better.
Two more facts: Consumers look for "Certified" and consumers think a "Society" is a social club...all the branding in the world won't change that.

PS. If you're insured, say so. If you're licensed in your state, say so. If you're a member of NACHI then you're certified, so say so.

O.K. Nick, here goes.
I'm fully insured.
I'm licensed in NJ.
I'm a certified NACHI guy.
And I belong to the Society(but don't hold that against me)
