It’s official. ASHI has screwed its NJ members by backing legislation that made the PA debacle look like a walk in the park.
NJ's HI legislation shuts out tons of established inspectors. Again, the idea is to totally control the industry in that state. Once the complaints started pouring in, the NJ Senate amended the bill. NJ ASHI and ASHI National opposes the amendment in the name of "consumer protection".
You have to see it to believe it. NICK, WHAT'S NACHI'S POSITION ON THE ASHI MODEL AND "REVISED" LEGISLATIVE PACKAGES? I suspect that now, as the cat is out of the bag as to what ASHI really stands for, NACHI will look like a damn good org to be associated with to some staunch ASHI members left out in the cold.
An old saying from my friend in Texas a few years ago, who was getting raked over the coals by his employer: "All they ever give me is hard d#$k and bubblegum, and they're always out of bubblegum. Apparently, ASHI's also out of bubblegum...

All NACHI’s members are members here by free choice. ASHI thinks the home inspection industry is their own little IRAQ and are now upset that they are no longer able to enslave the whole industry.
I've always said that the reason they fought us so hard in PA is that they knew if they could stop NACHI here in our home State, no one would fight them in any other State. We'd all be forced to join ASHI, and who knows, maybe we'd be all forced to name our first born "Ashi."
Well they lost. And many other inspectors in NJ (after watching us win in PA) are demanding their own independence. Anyone read in the last dozen or so ASHI Reporters and notice how few members join up with them these days?
New Jersey is ASHI's stronghold and their Baghdad. If they lose that...the regime crumbles.
The best thing we can do is work to help our industry and fellow inspectors (even if they are ASHI members). Remember, ASHI is the enemy, not the individual ASHI inspector who is just trying to survive in NJ, and feed their families.

Time will take care of the ASHI situation. I just wonder how many members they will have at their conference next year.
Speaking of conference Nick has a date been set for ours? Maybe next year you can have it in Florida. That way all of you can have a vacation and write it all off.

You're 49/50ths correct. When an ASHI member pays his dues, it goes to support (in part) the tyranny in New Jersey. I forgive most of the ASHI guys in NJ as they are in a real pickle and are having trouble getting free.

ps Bob, I'm in Washington all next week. How's the weather?

Nick,
I'll clarify, the membership allowed the leadership to do as they pleased by their (membership) non-involvement and apathy. Now look who is involved, NJ members, how many non-NJ ASHI members are doing anything? I've seen more response from NACHI members and independents than ASHI members.
Rain, rain, rain and ... oh yea... cloudy with rain.
