New builder window installed

I know this is not correct, but I need the words that how to explain what is incorrect here.
This builder put the windows like this through out the house. and I think its missing the outer trim.

Can someone please help me to identify the problem on this window install?

AHHH, the builders all time favorite excuse “it passed Code, everything is fine”.
It’s not okay, (other than an honest builder Rep/supervisor to oversee/correct issues or even better make sure it is installed right the first time) you need the siding and/or window manufacturer installation instructions as your definitive source. In Florida installation instructions should be available on site.

From here it looks like a standard builder’s grade vinyl window with nail fin and built in j-channel

Window was not properly flashed. Have a qualified contractor make corrections as needed.

Thank you Kevin, appreciate your help.

It appears to be a standard install, provided this is a fin window. Both the siding manufacturer and the window manufacturer would give guidance here. I think you may have showed up late to your own party.

I am curious. I’m not questioning your opinion, but how can you tell that window is not flashed? Looks like it is taped in that second pic.

I am expecting the window to look like this one. What is that trim called?
is that not they supposed to have it on all the windows in the house?

This at least prevent the water and bugs to get behind the vinyl

Looks like an integral j window trim to me. You can see the flashing behind it.

That is just a different type of window jamb detail and still has a j-molding. If the siding is left with a gap for expansion, like they should, your bugs will still go behind it.
When I see vinyl siding like your first picture that is concave like that, it means to me that it is a cheap siding and will make it look worse inside a J-mold like that.

I agree. It looks like a standard vinyl window with built-in J-Chanel to me as well. I’m not seeing a defect in Asim’s picture.

the window frame has a one inch deep flange around the perimeter. it is flashed to the wall and then the vinyl siding edges tuck into the flange (J chanel) to hide the edges of the vinyl siding.

Dutch vinyl double 5 lap siding. That is what I have on the house.

It’s fine…

The window in your new home has a built-in J-channel. The window you compared it to is an entirely different type of window.

The same concern you have here…

exists here…the only difference is the viewing angle.

Also, be aware that vinyl siding is not waterproof. Water will get behind it.

And that picture does just that. Hope there is flashing and a good WRB.
