New Construction Basement Wall Cold Joint and void

Our foundation walls were poured a couple days ago and when they removed the boards, we noticed the cold joint (running diagonal across the front) and a void with some honeycombing near the top right. (4 pictures in link)

They patched the void, but not sure if there will be any structural or leaking issues in the future. How big a concern is this and how best should we address this or have it repaired?

If that is the only cold joint, I don’t see an issue.

Fill the voids and continue building.

I am with Larry on this one. Typically the issue is there was a delay getting concrete. During the summer many contractors are ordering concrete and the ready-mix companies can’t keep up. Sometimes the contractor puts a hold on the last truck to see if they need it, which can delay the pour creating a cold joint. If it’s a long distance between the ready-mix plant and the job site and it’s 90+ degrees then I classify it as poor planning creates poor results. IMO about half the time this is the case. The really good ready-mix company’s will water down their large aggregate piles or add ice to help keep the concrete temperature down, which gives the contractor extra time before the concrete sets up. The contractor can ask for a chemical retarder to be added to delay the set time. Some contractors on large pours will pour at night, but will likely have to o pay extra to compensate the ready-mix company for drivers overtime pay. What seems simple to most people takes good planning to get everything right.

Common practice in California, especially with Freeway construction, (running 24 hrs/7 days/wk)!

Thank you (and Larry) for the replies. That makes perfect sense since it was hot on the day of the pour. Do these cold joints have any adhesion issues leading to leaks in the future that we can address now?

Also, the void was about fist size, and some of it appeared on both sides of the wall. Is normal filling sufficient? Thanks again!

Hydraulic Cement works well.
