This is another excellent example of a successful wordmark logo. The simpler and clearer a logo is, the easier the logo will be to work with in the long run. This is why I include the black and white version of the logo in the image example of the logo posts. A good logo should be easy to convert to a single-color graphic because no set of colors is going to work on every background color. In this design, I shifted the text in the word defect so that the word is emphasized by the fracture running through it. I also reflected that same quality in the check graphic.
