No spot temp reading

I have an E8 that is only a few months old, and the spot measurement is not working. Even if I change the setting for hottest, coldest, or spot, it is stuck on 82.8 degrees.

Anyone ever had this problem? Is there a setting that I am missing? Hoping I dont have to send it off for a warranty claim…

Your spot sensor looks like it is stuck at one area on the two pictures. I’m thinking that its a software problem. Try to do a factory reset in the settings. Did you update to the latest firmware? you might have to send it in for repairs if you can’t get it to unstick itself. My old E8 started having weird artifacts on the screen within 2 months of buying it, sent it in for repair. Thermal sensor had to be replaced. Has worked for a few years now.

I did buy a backup E8 in a recent sale and the build quality is worse. I might need to start using this one and see if there are any problems.

Thats what I did. When they were half off in Oct.
Thanks, I will try the reset

Remove the battery for about 10 min then see if it is corrected.

Did you try ctrl, alt, delete?

I’ve done it several time and it worked.

Your spot measurement is set on Max in the ones you’re showing. It says “MAX”.
Change it in the measurement tab.

Afternoon Danial.
Had the same issue with my Ti300. Lasor stop temp and distance measurements did not function.
Have you tried resetting the E8 to factory default setting?.
You check for updates?

I think it is the ambient temperature settings, the average temperature in the home/building are not set up during the inspection.
Just my 2 cents.

That was stuck, no matter what setting I put it on.
But as Roy suggested, it worked after I removed the battery for several minutes.

This is actually the only complaint I have about Flir-that is, you can only choose one of the three.

My other $1k thermal from HTI shows all 3 at all times. (Hottest, coldest, and Spot temp) You would think for $3k, it would have that too…

We never did figure out why my hacked E4 has all three at once did we? I remember us discussing it on a different thread.

I was going to post there but forgot, the eBay seller says “advanced menu” in the listing for the hacked E4s. So somehow they are able to get access to extra menu features that even the stock E8 doesn’t have. :man_shrugging:
