NY recertification

Looking for help. It’s been about 10 years since I did home inspections, I let my license laps and now I want to be relicensed and start my business again. I reached out to NY DOS and inquired as to what to do and they were not much help, seemed like didn’t care. My question is do I have to take the 100 hr course plus 40 field training classes all over again or do I just need to take the test and reapply with the state? Here is the response I received from the DOS

Thank you for contacting the New York State Department of State, Division of Licensing.

We were able to locate your Home Inspector license, 16000019454. Please be advised that it is not currently active eligible for renewal, due to it being past it’s renewal grace period.

A renewal is mailed to the address on file 90 days prior to the expiration date. If the registration has not been renewed within 2 years after the expiration date of their current registration, you must re-apply and re-qualify.

You may reapply using the application found on our website: Become a Home Inspector | Department of State

Thank you,

New York State Department of State

Division of Licensing Services

Grateful for the correct answer on this.

Seems pretty much straight to the point to me… gotta start all over from the beginning!

I agree with JJ.

Once you let your license lapse for 2 years, you have to start the proccess over as if you never were licensed.
