Old fuse block in wall

Just thought I’d share this fine fuse “sub-panel”. Located in the wall, or should I say on the wall, at stairway of a 100 year old house.

And, with a couple nice 30 ampere fuses to make sure they don’t blow un-necessarily, eh? :face_with_spiral_eyes:

Nice catch. Good old asbestos. Probably helped save the house from burning down

get to know what good is…

That’s wild! Active circuits. Thanks Marcel.
K&T circuits.
Wood panelboard lined with asbestos.
Mounted glass plug fuses and busses.
Updated NM series circuit cables. No ground. Paper/cardboard insulator if my eyes are working properly.

Everything you want to teach individuals about old residential electrical wiring and fuse technology.
Looks like the circuit in image #240 is being back feed.

Is asbestos Lining safe in 2024?

Not saying it is or it isn’t, just curious why you feel it may not be? What is your reasoning?
