Hello everyone


I am very new to the industry. I need to get the
feel of what it's like to do a home inspection and what
is involved.

I live in the St. Joseph/Benton Harbor area and looking
for a seasoned inspector who would not mind me riding
with him. and who, of course, lives within 2-3 hours
of this area.

Unless you're actually looking for a trainee to hire,
I would be happy to just tool along with you,
and learn.

I have about three weeks until I'm no longer
employed, so I'll be available toward the end
of March.

If you have one or two inspections planned
before then, email me and maybe we can arrange
a day or two.

I really want to ensure that I do everything right
before going out on my own.

I'm also working on setting up to take training either
local or correspondance.

Looking forward to hearing from someone out there.

Only a small portion of NACHI members participate on the message board. Your best bet to find a ride along or mentor is to contact local inspectors directly and ask.


Be aware that some don't want to train their direct competion.

Most have more luck looking for ride alongs or mentors that are 60 to 90 miles away.

Check out www.findaninspector.us to see if you can find some in an area that would be suitable for you to drive to for ride alongs but to far for direct competition.

Here's the search from www.findaninspector.us from Benton Harbor, MI within 50 miles though my best suggestion is to go outside that area.

I notice you are already listed there even though you are not doing inspections yet. I hope Nick and Chris get that fixed relatively soon before we start losing people due to calling guys that aren't ready yet.

Thank You for your response.

I've already noted my concerns to Nick regarding my inability to do
an inspection before I'm ready.

If any calls come in, I'm sure arrangements can be made to have
another inspector step in when required.

Thank you for the search under "findaninspector".

I did, in fact, start using "findaninspector" and emailed two inpectors,
but with no response yet.

I'll continue with the ones you provided.
