Found this document while researching a heat pump/air flow issue.
thanks, I read it quickly and found a major error. The doc says heat pumps can only get heat from outdoor air down to 40 degrees then the heat strips take over. This is wrong, even the old heat pumps did better than that, the newer ones do much better.
A recent inspection on a HP older than 10 years, temperature around 17 degrees and the HP was still getting heat from the outside. I always thought it to be true about the 30 or 40 degrees until this happened. I called a heating specialist and he was explaining to me how the outside unit and heat strips work together at times.
My own unit that is 2 years old has a set point at 30 degrees.
You are correct, I missed the error.
