Polyethylene or Polybutylene?

We’ve kicked this around a lot at our local HI org. meetings. One of the other inspectors has talked to Watts (one of the manufacturers of T&P valves) and they (Watts) do not allow any plastic pipe to be installed on their valves. The city of SA allows CPVC on T&P drain lines. I still write it up because the manufacturer doesn’t allow it and manufacturer’s spec supercedes what the city allows. IMHO.

Slainte!

So true - manufacturer’s specs always are the last word.

What other companies other than Watts disallow plastic pipe? In Virginia, Watts valves are seldom if ever seen.
