Q: HVAC registers

When using my thermal on HVAC registers I generally see what the first picture shows, but sometimes the heat will be fairly spread out around the register, as seen in the second picture. Could this be the result of loose ducts behind the register? Interested in your guy’s thoughts (and criticism as usual too lol). Thanks.

Floor or wall register?
Can you blend or provide a visual image for comparison?

Every register will be different based upon its unique airflow patterns. You can see a warm ceiling in the first picture.

I don’t think so. That is definitely the Easter Bunny.

Both wall registers. Unfortunately I do not have a visual image for comparison.

Lol :joy:

Okay, so nothing unusual about the 2nd picture then.

That’s not a Easter bunny, that’s, that’s… A zombie bunny :scream:

Yes it is, and this one is a huge leak inside the wall, which ends up outside, depressurizing the building causing the same volume of outdoor air to enter the building.

The round to square transition at the duct/register connection is not sealed as required.

Thank you for explaining this Dave. Sounds like it is certainly with warranting a further look by an HVAC technician in my reports.
