Mullion: A vertical bar or divider in the frame between windows, doors, or other openings that supports and holds such items as panels, glass, sash, or sections of a curtain wall.
Muntins: Horizontal or vertical bars that divide the sash frame into smaller lights of glass. Muntins are smaller in dimensions and weight than mullions.

About a two weeks ago I had a client that had nice mullions. No structural engineer was needed for those things. I was trying to determine if they were held in place like at veneer brick wall or if they were like a true brick wall - self supporting. Sometimes it’s hard to tell without going to far beyond the standards of inspection.
Sometimes it's hard to make the right call without putting yourself at risk.
