Has anyone inspected a quansett hut type house? I am planning on doing a normal inspection and looking at any base connections i can see.
What is it? Reminds me of the forts I built during the blizzard of 78
We have a lot of Quonset’s in my area but we call them barns and I inspect them as any other detached building. Never seen one lived in though.
In my career I have inspected some strange structures such as underground homes, dome houses but my most strange of all was a Mausoleum.
Was hoping I would get to do this one. Too bad it’s across the river (WI)…

After WWII ended there were a LOT of quonset huts for sale cheap from the US government. A lot were bought by colleges and universities for student housing but a lot ended up in private hands too. Made of galvanized steel and designed as an arch, they’ve lasted a long time, and they’re still around for the same reasons they were popular to begin with. They’re just an integral wall and roof, they can be insulated and finished in different ways.
