Question on Valleys

Are asphalt valleys suppose to be weaved or is this acceptable?

That’s a closed-cut weave.

Looks good to me.

Thanks guys

The ends of shingles on a closed-cut valley go up the plane at least 1 ft and the shingles on the other plane are cut in a straight line about 2in from the valley center. (Closed-cut valley)

What he said.

Its a “cut” valley or a “California” cut valley. In either case it’s a poor quality valley. The transition should never be in the center of the valley as it is in this photo. It should always be a few inches off to one side.
That said, it’s a quality issue, not a defect, and shouldn’t be called out as a defect.
