Great questions Marc.

No one else is playing, so what the hell…

  1. Plumbers are historically biased against those of us who are in their right mind.
  2. “In the home”? No. The only difference is what should be put into drains. Eating more yogurt is good for your septic system.
  3. The lead vent flashing was damaged. Recommend that a qualified contractor repair or replace the flashing to prevent a roof leak.
  4. Water meter
  5. I thought this a family friendly game. My answer is a “corp stop”.

1 Most people are right handed and cold was typically on the right, with the advent of heated water , the logical place “left” to put it was on the left.
2 Septic has a tank and leach field
3 Improperly installed plumbing vent boot, likely roof leak.
4 Water meter
5 Check valve

Congrats to Dave Fetty for the win!

  1. WHY is the cold on the right & hot on the left?
When indoor plumbing was first introduced, there was one option that came out of the hand pump: cold water.
    There was no hot water.
Since the majority of people are right-handed, the pump was placed on the right side of the sink.
The logic for keeping the cold/right, hot/left placement – is to avoid surprises. We tend to reach for the right side first and by having the cold there, it helps to avoid accidental scalding

2) Are there major differences between sewer and septic systems in your home?
a) They are very similar
b) One uses pressure and the other uses gravity
c) The only difference is in the type of pipes used
a) They are very similar, both systems are basically the same

~~ ~~ ~~ ~~ ~~ ~~ ~~
3) inspect this please

Plumbing stack flashing damaged/open.
Recommend sewer scope due to pipe is cast iron.

4) All plumbing fixtures listed below are included under the definition of a plumbing unit except:
Water meter
Lavatory

Water meter

5) A stop valve in a service pipe close to its connection with a water main is a:
Gate valve
Corporation cock
Check valve
Globe valve
A corporation cock is a type of valve that is commonly used in service pipes near their connection with a water main. It is designed to regulate or stop the flow of water in the pipe. This type of valve is typically used in municipal water systems and is known for its durability and reliability

PS… The woman in the video is really his wife.

  • Who She Is: Carlene Carter, a musician from the famous Carter Family.
  • Her Role: She plays herself in the video, which documents Lowe’s wedding to her in 1979.
  • Video Content: The video blends real wedding footage with humorous reenactments, showcasing their actual wedding at the Tropicana Motel
