Welcome To Questions of the Week!
A member of the Awards Committee will post questions at random.
Members may make one post per question thread to answer the questions, and the member’s winning entry must have all parts of the questions answered completely in that one post.
No editing is allowed and INELIGIBLE members will be disqualified.
First correct answers (as judged by the Awards Committee or Poster of the Questions) wins.

GOOD LUCK!
1) Pressure loss due to friction -
a) Is zero when there is no water flowing
b) Cannot exceed 20 psi
c) Is independent of pipe length
d) Is independent of pipe diameter
e) Is independent of pipe wall smoothness
2) Excess water pressure may lead to -
a) Excess water velocity
b) Excess friction loss
c) Longer operating periods for dishwashers
d) Longer operating periods for clothes washers
e) Sklashing and excessive siphoning as toilets are flushed
3) Causes of poor pressure and flow in a house include all of the following except -
a) Undersized piping
b) Rusted piping
c) A gate valve type main valve
d) Piping obstructions
e) leaks
4) Bored wells are typically -
a) Deeper than 200 feet
b) Deeper than 400 feet
c) Shallower than 100 feet
d) 6 inches in diameter
e) 12 inches in diameter
5) Which of the following is not a cause for an inoperative pump?
a) The motor is burned out.
b) The discharge line is split.
c) The control switch for the pump is not working.
d) The thermal overload has tripped.
e) There is no electricity at the pump.
Damn. Gonna have to go with E, as a really weak one. The tank valve may be leaking because of the pressure, but that won’t affect gravity flush. If the pressure is too high “Sklashing” maybe is the sound of too much water jetting in for the bowl rinse, resulting in a too strong a siphon down low.
C (so going with C as the non-problem, as it would take a hell of a leak, more like a flood, to affect pressure much)
C (typical depth limit based on local conditions of course)
