I picked up this apparent vintage US-made bayonet along with a bunch of other knives at a garage sale recently. What’s odd is that I haven’t been able to find out anything about it online. When I search the markings, I only get ones with plastic grips, while this one has wood grips. The ones online have some other differences also. The handle on this one sure looks original though. If it’s not original, someone sure did a damn good job fitting it.
Edit: The more I look at it now comparing it to the ones online, it was definitely modified to add this different handle. They also ground off one of the tangs, the one with the mounting post.
Didn’t want to hit it with the mower or have the dogs get it so I relocated it to the neighbor’s yard. It promised that it would not come back. That was 3 hours ago so it has probably had three litters since then.
