Home depot has them on sale right now. $1379 for the 40 gallon. It’s only the me and the wife, and we’ve had a 40 gallon forever, no issues. I’ve been eyeballing these for a bit and saw the sale. Getting rid of a 1998 vintage heater and the garage air conditioning is a bonus!

It’s effectively an air conditioner sitting on top of a water heater.
Considering I live in a hot climate, it will cool off the garage and use that heat to make hot water. The “bonus bonus” is that the cooler garage will make the freezer work less hard.
I wouldn’t get this if I were back in NJ, but down here if Florida, it’s a win. It should pay for itself in a couple years in energy savings.
