RECALLS

Had a client return a survey with a comment. They rated all points of the survey as excellent but stated when the LP company came to install their LP tank he stated the furnace Was on a recall and I should have known that.

I'm getting ready to reply back to them but I would like to know how many of you check for recalls on furnaces, water heaters, etc. If you do how far do you go, fridge, dish washer, microwave, etc.

My thoughts are to either compile a list or just refer them to the Consumers Product Safety Commission web site. Or maybe both to cover my a$%.

Your thoughts Please

I try to check for recalls. It has come in handy to just look at a furnace and know there was a recall on them. Impresses the clients also. Just an added service.

Alot of times I see the recalls posted on the BB by someone.

You can also subscribe to a daily email on the cdsc website. I set it up to go to its own folder since it comes daily. Alot of the recalls though pertain to thing that have nothing to do with our industry.

Knowing all recalls would be more than a full time job.

I check all HVAC and water heaters (as long as there is a visible build plate) and built in dishwashers and ranges.

It takes a bit of time, but that's what we are paid for in my opinion... ![icon_smile.gif](upload://b6iczyK1ETUUqRUc4PAkX83GF2O.gif)

yeah but do you check them for recalls from a list or do you look 'em up and report it later?

Jay,

I don’t do onsite reporting, so I look them up while I write my report…takes just a few minutes.

I look them up and include the information within my report.
