Read article on Grey water, I believe there are some benefits to using grey water if it is set up correctly.
Here is a shower head that comes through a tile shower wall at 76" above the floor of the tub. The tub has a shower curtain not a shower door system.
This is a picture underneath a sink that has had a slow consistent leak for a long period of time. The sink drained very slowly and the P- trap was leaking water. When I tested the wood below with a moisture meter the reading was 37%.
While performing a free home inspection with a future coworker, we found many plumbing concerns. First was the use of galvanized plumbing some of which was replaced by pex and some by copper. Along with that several vent stack had been removed during a remodel at some point so water drained slowly during the functional flow test. Lastly the upstairs sink had NO p-trap just a 90 degree bend entering back into the wall.
Just took this course lots information. This is a picture of the drain pipe for the washing machine. There is an air gap present. (its my washer).
I did like the course. The only problem I had was there are lots of pictures but no information about the picture.
Lots of information to process. Time to test the retention. No pun intended
This picture is of the Main Shut off valve. Notice a shut off valve on each side of the pressure reducer for servicing or replacing that unit.
I have posted a photo of a P trap. It seems to be installed correctly. No leaks were found at the time of the inspection.
Two of the main shut off valves.
One is for the gas supply to the water heater and the other is the main water shut off to the house/property.
Water shut off was labelled, but gas shut off was not.
Hi all,
I have read the article on Hard water. I live on an area of Alberta, Canada that has really hard water. We definitely need a softener and I installed one in the house we are in now. Found a big difference with the washing, dishwasher. I know it is better to leave it hard, better for you, but I feel it’s a necessity.
Interesting read, some thing all inspectors should read, especially in hard water area’s.
Still enjoying the Internachi course, many thanks
here is a temperature release valve with no proper drain pipe…this could cause a serious issue or burn if this were to release while a person was near by… stay safe everyone
my own home is currently in no signs of defects or in need of repairs to any plumbing parts of the inspection great check list…these courses are very very interesting and you definitely learn a ton
I always keep my carbon monoxide detector in my home and up to date by testing it monthly… with a gas furnace and 3 your children its always best to be safe then sorry
Starting course
This is the valve on the cold water branch line going into the water heater. A smaller valve and water line has been fitted next to it that feeds the swamp cooler on the roof. This smaller valve shows signs of leaking, there are stains and there is a plastic cup underneath it.
I have been in home construction for twenty five years and I have never seen a bidet. I wonder why they have never caught on the U.S.
plumbing was never my strong suit, but at least i learnt something new. good luck to you all
