What is a reverse osmosis system? I had never heard of it before. I take it that it is some sort of filtration system??? icon_question.gif

The 2003 IRC and the UPC require these to be installed with an air gap. It's rare that I find one hooked up properly, but I'll snap a picture the next time I do.

I generally exclude water filtration and water softening systems. Do you guys inspect them?

I don’t inspect the filtration system, but the improper tap needs to be reported.

Newer R.O. systems often have the air gap built into the single touch faucet, you can tell if the drain line runs down from the bottom of the faucet.
