Rusted B Vent for a furnace

This is a B vent for a Coleman furnace that had been converted from natural gas to propane. It has lots of rust on the cap and rust on the shingles below indicating that it was dripping. I wrote up that it was most liking condensation from possibly an over-sized vent. Is there anything else I should have looked at with regards to the rust on the Chimney vent?

Really you think so? Is that vent located in an area that may receive rainfall?

I would not write up the drip cap of the vent. I would write up the improper installed roof slashing.
the top 2 courses of shingles should go over the flange, not just the top course.

Yes, it gets rain there. There were some dents on the rain cap that could hold puddles of water. I did write that it had dents. I was wondering because he converted from natural gas to propane if that could cause more condensation. Would propane burn hotter?

Sean I just wouldn’t put anything in the report that the source of the corrosion is from an oversized flue pipe. Unless you’re in the business and a licensed contractor and you’ve done the calculations. I would just called out the corrosion in need of repair.

There is little to no rust at the B vent pipe

Ok, thanks

Now looking at it there is a dent on the cap that allows water to pool.
