Sawdust/blown in looking debris in attic

I know i’ve seen this somewhere in the forums, but can’t find where. In a home today, i saw a 2 foot pile of “sawdust” looking debris in the crawlspace/attic (?) Thanks

Was it fine, like talcum powder?

Were there larger oblong holes (about 3/8" or so in size) in the floor joist, or was it riddled with smaller holes (like it was hit with buckshot)?

damn, 2 feet x 6 feet, that’s one big chunk of sawdust.


perhaps what you are looking at is denim insulation
