Security cameras for days

Inspector the house yesterday and to save the sellers are paranoid as a massive understatement. In one spot on their house I could stand and see 13 different cameras all of which were three different brands and all appeared to be in a functional condition. On the back of the house there’s three more cameras inside of the house there was three more cameras.

It was also asked to lock the door behind me as I went in so we nobody would "sneak in "while I was working.

Paranoid much?

What is everybody stands on cameras do you request that they all be turned off while you’re doing an inspection so that way you have privacy?

It is their home, so I just do my job and keep in mind that I am probably being watched and listened to.

It’s their house still. We are just guests. I try not to pick my nose in situations like that.

It’s been discussed here time and time again… an inspector has zero right to privacy when inspecting. Be thankful the cameras were not hidden and you didn’t have any idea they existed, watching you, like a sick pervert hiding in a closet two blocks away, getting off on… :flushed: :astonished:

I always expected that I was being videoed and just went about my business of inspecting.

It’s very common here in fact in almost every home there are security cameras outside and inside. That’s OK I got my body camera I’m watching you watching me. I just ignore the cameras and continue with my work.

Not a problem for me. I once was at a house that had cameras all around and half the basement was walled off with a heavy duty door with multiple locks. We speculated about what was going on behind the door. When the owner got there and opened it up, it was a pretty nice recording studio.

This^ always inspect as if someone is watching because there is no way for you to know otherwise. I’ve worked in houses with hidden cameras.

Same. I’ve spotted them conspicuously located throughout homes, even in bathrooms. If I ever have to used the restroom while on an inspection I do a quick check prior. If I find one I have no problem flipping it around momentarily. This has now happened I think 2 or 3 times.

Anymore, I just figure that every house has cameras. I have them on my home as well.

At the same time, that home has the methed up look to it. Careful what you touch.

I did a warranty inspection a few months back for a cop. He not only had cameras every where, he had padlocks all over the place too. The locks made it tough and couldn’t look at some things, but the cameras didn’t bother me, except for when I dropped a dead front cover screw and had to fish out from under the chest freezer that was next to the breaker panel. I’m sure he got a chuckle from watching that… especially when my telescoping magnet broke during the fishing expedition… LOL

A few days ago, I was inspecting a house with cameras everywhere. The renter was looking over my shoulder most of the time, but in the basement he got a phone call and walked away for ten or more minutes. Suddenly he comes flying in screaming at the clients and I to get out of his house NOW! My client started laughing because it was all so absurd but that only ramped him up more. So we left. Outside, we brainstormed if any of us had said anything offensive on camera, but couldn’t come up with anything.
A call to the seller/landlord got the inspection finished with a glowering renter still watching. We never learned what set him off.

Just “Smile “… turn and give the camera your ‘best angle’… make sure you brush your teeth and look ‘crispy’…! Make sure they don’t miss your company LOGO…:joy:
