Is there any master inspectors I can call about this question of a guy who’s giving me more money to pay some one else who’s supposed to be there at the property
Just do a search for the word “scam”. Plenty of previous discussion.

Is his name Adam?
Click the spyglass in the upper RH corner and type in the word scam.
He signed the contract and everything for a home inspection was supposed to be on this past Monday backs out on Sunday and reschedules for next Tuesday and then tells me today that he’s having a mold check done and is paying me more to pay them I took screen shot of everything what do I do with the signed contract now that it’s a possible scam
I am not a CMI so I say cash the check AOK… … .

Just put it aside as a reminder of how some scams can get ya, if you’re not informed and careful.

Thank you Larry this that would have been my first inspection would have been nice in the middle of moving and kinda needed the money but at least I’m learning early for this

Better no $ now rather than paying for a bad check and be out the $ for the “MOLD” guy too, at your bank.

I am playing with a Deron and the aforementioned Adam right now. Just a heads up, Deron is sending extra money in his check to pay for some plumbers while Adam is old school and still using the Mold scheme.

I told Adam that I would pay the mold inspector $2500.00 and not a penny more, and that my fee was $3400.00. Haven’t yet heard back from him.

I told “Adam” $1300 for a 1300sf house, and he said that was fair. We haven’t discussed how much for the mold man yet or where to send the check, that will probably happen tonight.

I still have yet to get one of these scam request. For those that have, is it common for them to sign an PIA as the OP stated he had one signed?

That would worry me… that means they aren’t finding you, so clients may not be either…

Not really. Big difference in living in a county that has only 12k people as opposed to one that has 107k. Hillsborough County Fl. alone has a population that is more than 4-5 counties surrounding mine combined.
I’m just a small fish in a scammers pond, and my clients do find me.

I would say that it was a scam. If his original text or email looked like the photo below, it is a 100% chance that it is a scam. The name changes, but the content of the request never seems to.

My dance partner this month is James.
I will string him along, get his hopes up by attempting to get him a refund Walmart gift card, make up a ridiculous emergency situation, apologize for the delay and continue to drag him through the 5 stages of grief as he eventually figures out that the refund gift cards were never more than an empty promise.

They are learning, I think… This one says he is actually the seller, as to explain why it isnt listed yet…
