Spelling Counts

When you post messages on this board or on any other board, and for sure on your inspection reports, please do your self a favour and learn to spell nachi_sarcasm.gif

Too many times I read messages on this board and people do not know how to spell, and it shows ignorance and lack of education. We are supposed to be educated professionals, please live up to this assumption, and take a little time to at least use the spell checker.....

Am I wrong here?

I must be uneducated and ignorant. ![icon_rolleyes.gif](upload://iqxt7ABYC2TEBomNkCmZARIrQr6.gif)

I am poor at spelling, does that make my knowledge of the NEC less credible.

I do use spell check in one form or another but I really think you could have been a little less condescending in your post.

By the way, you spelled "favor" incorrectly

Actually favor can be spelled either way…I think favour is the canadian or british way of spelling…sort of like color and colour.

Encarta lists favour as the U.K. alternative for favor, as we are in the US I will stick to my statement. icon_lol.gif and so does my US language spell checker. icon_lol.gif

Favour, in the queens english, is spelled f-a-v-o-u-r, it is the correct way, thank you for proving my point......

There are a lot of people that would think Favour is spelled wrong. Why would you take the chance of coming across being ignorant or uneducated?

I think some people need to work on expressing themself properly "when they write things down" so there is no misunderstanding. ![icon_wink.gif](upload://ssT9V5t45yjlgXqiFRXL04eXtqw.gif)

I'm going to start writing my reports in Ebonics!

Shouldn't English be capitalized smart guy?

Do you normally write your reports in queens English?

You come across as snobby and arrogant.

Not a good way to start when you just walk in the door, maybe before you start handing out advice you should learn more about the members here.

Frank,

While I agree that many should use the spell checker, I don't agree it shows ignorance or lack of education. I do agree it is the professional thing to do.

When it comes to home inspection reports, you would be amazed at how much one word, or the lack of, can dramatically change what you were trying to say or convey to the client. Therefore, I am one of those that are in favor of using spell checking tools, although they are not fool proof, they do help with simple mistakes when your fingers are flying faster than your brain. ![icon_biggrin.gif](upload://iKNGSw3qcRIEmXySa8gItY6Gczg.gif)
