Staining on gable end

The worst of it appears to start over the window on the right.

Looks like blue-green algae that often grows on roof shingles.

Thinking (guessing) that cold (dry) AC air in the summer is leaking into the attic, cooling the exterior gable end, leading to condensation and mold on the outside.

Dirt typical of exterior of the home…I have to pressure wash my house every year…Recommendation…clean it…add paint if desired.

That’s exactly what I think I narrowed it down to. I could not get to that area of the attic but the area I could get to I noticed they used the old style tape on the ducts, not the silver foil tape of today. It was an older home. I saw only a few places were it looked like it was lossining and recommended they be checked due to the tape.
Likely , though I could not see the leak that’s what is going on.
