Surge Protection Device

Saw one of these units installed today. I noted both the unit was not secured to the cabinet and it was double tapped to an existing breaker. Turns out, UL has also published this unit is a potential fire hazard. Would you/have you informed the sellers about this component? Why/why not?

Note, this unit was included in an update to the article in 2019.

Unit must be secured and connected with the shortest lead wires possible and not be double-tapped. If UL says it is a fire hazard, I would definitely call it out and recommend removal.

Would you notify the sellers too?

If you now have that knowledge after report issue, I would email them & let them know your discovery.
