TAREI and InterNACHI are joining. This is BIG news in Texas.

The InterNACHI/TAREI deal only provides a free first year in InterNACHI to anyone who is not a member of InterNACHI, provided they are either a member of TAREI or join TAREI.

The offer was designed to improve retention at TAREI and to get some new members into TAREI by sweetening TAREI membership with a free first year at InterNACHI. It was targeted at the thousands of association-unaffiliated inspectors in Texas and attempted to get them into TAREI. InterNACHI receives none of the money for providing this “sweetener” for TAREI.

Hope that helps.

I’m still confused about the whole thing. I have Andrea telling me I need to pay her and Lisa telling me that as long as I pay her I don’t have to pay Andrea. Now in honesty this was a few weeks ago but I’m still trying to figure out who the hell to pay.

I don’t think this applies to You George as you are already a member of InterNACHI. The primary purpose of the offer was to target association-unaffiliated inspectors to get them to join TAREI by offering them a free first year in InterNACHI as a sweetener. The small secondary purpose of the offer was to get existing TAREI members to renew with TAREI by offering them a free first year in InterNACHI. You don’t need a first year membership in InterNACHI if you are already a member of InterNACHI.

So who do I pay…I have two different women saying they are the one to pay???
I try not to argue with more than one woman at a time

Well this certainly seems to be the first I’m hearing about “first year only” and targeting “unaffiliated inspectors only”. This was not the impression that was conveyed when this thing was announced. I don’t recall hearing those terms back then. Frankly, it feels like the rules are changing.

My membership renewal is coming due. I need to know who to send my money to and whether that will result in my being a member of both organizations or just one. I don’t intend to pay separate dues to both.

Nope, nothing changed.
Same as I explained on page 1, in my post #13 of this thread.
And then again in my post #15.
And then again in my post #24.
And then again in my post #59.
And then again in my post #61.

The way I read it was if we started paying the TARIE membership INSTEAD of the NACHI membership, we then would get dual membership as long as we paid only the TARIE membership. I knew there was a catch but nobody was being very clear and something just didn’t seem right.

You’re right. Communication has been crystal clear on this from the outset and coordination of messages has been impeccable. There is not now and never has been any confusion amongst the organizations or members regarding this scheme.

Sheesh…

I really don’t care which entity gets my money…honest. But I would like to know if I continue to pay Lisa and INACHI (I do installments) am I still going to be in good standing with Andrea and TAREI? Remember the part where I understood BOTH women to be telling me that I should be paying them? All I want to know, and it seems some others as well, is Who Do I Pay?

George, I THINK you have to pay both to be a member of both, since you are already a NACHI member. ](*,)

Lets see if we can get a simple answer.

Nick, when my NACHI membership is up in Dec. and I DO NOT renew with NACHI and pay to become a member of TARIE, would I still be a member of NACHI?

It costs a lot to belong to so many groups. Each has a benefit. Interestingly many below to more than one group.

Arse hole? I thought that was a pre-requisite to being a home inspector. People have assured me that I qualify.

I’m sure I am too; however, I refuse to own up to it

I’m dazed and confused and looks like probably dissapointed. :blank:
Thought when my annual Nachi membership was up in a couple of months my renewal would include both memberships, I must have missed the boat. I must have missunderstood here, and from email ads and from snail mail from mail man .com :wha?:

I see we still haven’t gotten an answer from the powers that be. What’s going on with this?

Keep at it George… ???

I think Nick has made it clear on his end.

The confusion started with me from this quote:

If this was not a true statement, then somebody from NACHI should have intervened at this point and we wouldn’t be where we are at now.

If you already joined TARIE and still a member of NACHI, then you would have to pay both. (loophole) If you let your NACHI expire and then join TARIE as a new member, you would get a free year with NACHI. I think.

Clear as mud  I mean if it was clear there wouldn’t be any confusion would there?

I don’t understand why we can’t get a straight, short, sweet answer…

That is absolute NOT how it was explained to me on the phone by either organization. What a freakin joke.

I think my money will go to the first person/entity who I feels gives me a straightforward answer. I’m beginning to believe that TAREI may well do more for my fellow inspector here in Texas so am kinda sorta leaning that way.
If I stood to make $300, off of one person let alone several, by just answering one question I think I’d be answering that question PDQ
I’ll drop this now and patiently await an answer…first straight answer gets my money

What is the question? Maybe I can find the answer for you.
