I’m sorry Nick but I can’t imagine a competent inspector completely comfortable giving out information blindly without that important rate information and also not knowing the screening process.
I guess all the contact forms that poured in today are from incompetent inspectors then. ;). Again the contact form is just my over-simplistic way of screening. If you won’t even tell me who you are, I’m fine with you staying with your current processor.
I’m looking into this also, as we are getting hammered with 3.5 % CC fees as all our transactions are “card not present”. Related question, how are you all getting the 2.7% rates? Are you taking payment from the client onsite with a swipe of the card? Most of our payments are over the phone, as we do not schedule the appointment without payment. Sorry, but I’m not blocking my calendar and showing up onsite without payment first. Has worked well for us, and never had a complaint working this way, and also never had any payment issues. We have found serious buyers are fine with our methodology. Maybe it’s the market I’m in, but I’m also finding 90% of the time I’m at the home doing the inspection by myself - no one there to make the payment. Yeah, I know - buyer should be there but that’s a whole separate topic already beaten to death in other threads.
My clients get an automated email with a link to pay by credit card. This is set up in my Spectora account and utilizes Stripe for taking card payments. The fee is 2.75% plus 30 cents per transaction. I can also take credit card payment onsite or over the phone for the same rate.
I use Square for all my business transactions. I have nothing to hide and will post the rate at 2.6% with a 10 cent fee. If you can’t add the 2.6% fee into your overhead you’ll be out of business.
